Didn't know what to expect of Perugia, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised. It actually have a very medieval feel to it. It sits atop a mountain and I can see why it was originally located here as one gets a very beautiful view of the valley below….and any wandering mauraders! Italy is on a 4 day holiday since the Feast of the Immaculate Conception falls on Tuesday. The ...
... out with a beautiful mixed salad and a plate of steamed, garlicky spinach (melt-in-your-mouth) – plus strangozzi (thick spaghetti) with mushrooms in a truffle sauce (wonderful). Murray started with a huge charcuterie board of mixed cured meats (salami, prosciutto, etc. – all the stuff we pregnant women cannot eat, boo-hoo). For mains, Murray had wild boar stew (tender and flavorful) while I enjoyed a Brusciola pizza (mozzarella, mushrooms, and sausage, with an ...

Next we decided to explore the surrounding village before entering the crowds above. Perugia is a beautiful midieval village and very well preserved. Incorporated into this ancient setting are some very modern things like an underground moving walkway, taking you through the mazez below the pallazo. On this day, there were special booths set up for children and chocolate vendors.

... pizzeria where I had delicious lasagna. After lunch we browsed through the many stands. Sample after sample led to some major purchases. It was hard to pass up the various chocolate products when the smell just filled the air. There was everything from chocolate beer to chocolate “pills” to chocolate pasta!!
Heaven.
I’ll update you soon,

... br>We had a traditional dinner consisting of foods from that region. I had a pasta followed by the most sumptuous lamb. And Licia had the same. We took a stroll through the charming village and then drove back to our village for the night.
It was quite cold but with the fresh air and quiet, I got a great night's sleep.
... which stop to actually get off at, until we asked a train worker where to get off at, turns out the station was called Assisi (haha). We arrived around 2 in Assisi and immediately went in search for some cibo (food), they have delicious pizza in Assisi. After food, the weather in Assisi had also turned bad. There was a chance of snow in Assisi that day and this time the weather report was right on. We were walking around all day in little ...
Assisi, Umbria, Italy lenamoina... difficult to recognize as human. The finger is nothing more than a 1-2 inch worm of pale brown flesh. These holy relics are mounted on altars, and people come up and pray to them. The rest of the church is mostly empty - i.e. a cavernous, cathedral-sized, room with stuff on the walls, some altars, and milling tourists and worshippers inside it. It's actually quite pretty... if you studiously avoid the body parts. Coming to think of it (Diana reminds me) we ...

On Monday, we decided to go the Isle of Capri (pronounced CAP-re). We took an early jetboat and decided to go the Blue Grotto first when we arrived. The Blue Grotto (BG) is a small opening in the limestone of the island that you travel to in small group. Once you arrive, you are transferred...well, thrown into very small rowboats ...

Yes, I am twenty one years old, yes, I know the archers and their officers probably didn't talk like that, but what the hell, it would've been so much fun! The Rocca Maggiore's earliest records date back to 1174 when it was originally erected as a German feudal castle. In the following years, various Popes and Cardinals and other men of power and persuasion built new towers and ...
