... pounding in my chest during the climb to worry about the cold!!

We walked into the cloud and as I suspected clouds aren’t hollow!! It felt more like I had entered a Charles Dickens novel and was walking through a foggy old Victorian London town. However, at the summit there was no barrow boy or flower seller just someone selling a pile of old rocks from a shack!! Visibility was a few metres. ... of the last several thousand years in Pompeii and the last several hours in the travels of Pete and Kathy.

Heading back to the ship required that we again recalibrate for the age we were leaving and how long ago two thousand years ago really is. Pompeii provided us the perfect other “real life” contrast to the aspirational masterpieces of Rome and Florence.

Good night from twenty-first century Naples. It’s good to be back!
