... cute animal made from towels. He always greets us with a big smile and calls us by name. Is sounds like "Ana-nita" to me, but I commend him for the effort. His name is, Nestor. But George calls him Ernie, don't ask me why. We are on the 8th deck, which is pretty cool because there are many things on this level. In the middle of the ship there is: the photo gallery, gift shop, jewelry stores, Champagne Charlie' lounge and it overlooks the main ...

... we got back on the bus and drove through the snow capped Apennines on our way to Vieste. Vieste is a seaside resort on the Adriatic coast that is a favorite holiday retreat of the Italians and Germans but little known to most Americans. We stayed in the old town in a cliff side hotel which was unexpectedly modern and beautiful. There are many narrow streets of about 8 feet wide and many other dwellings and ...

Barb and Grant,s friend Federico invited us to his village, Chieuti, to watch the annual ox race named the Palio di San Giorgo. Chieuta is a village on the east coast at about the same level as Rome. It took about 4 hours' drive from Marina di Camerota through some wonderful countryside. Federico and Anna Marie (his wife) made us ...

Today we travelled to Foggia where we visited a government building that may have provided birth information about our grandmother and great grandmother. Birth records often give you great information other than just the record of birth, which is why it would be great to obtain it. We managed to ...

... selling and completely renovated "pretty" Truli houses.

Puglia, like Sicily has a lot to offer. History, architecture and miles and miles of sandy beaches on its eastern coast. Yesterday, I spent hours diving, swimming and retrieving sticks from the Adriatic. I'll whisper it quietly, lest Signor e Signora hear - I think I've benefitted more than anyone from this trip, I feel 5 or 6 years younger.

          Fino alla prossima volta,
