... We met a couple from Texas and lunched with them at the brewery. We spent some time wandering the little alleyways and backstreets to see the less touristy parts of this beautiful old city. Dinner near the town center consisted of Belgian shrimp croquettes, Belgian steak, rack of lamb, a French merlot, and coffee with a waffle with ice cream and strawberries. Lovely lovely lovely, and a fine farewell dinner for both. Tomorrow we head for Flanders and WW 1 ...

... then took a boat tour along the mid-town canal. The city is very old and beautiful and feels like stepping back a few centuries. Wartime damage has all been restored. ... the worst bikers as they are always crashing! On Sunday I decided to climb the 366 steps of the famous Bell Tower in Market Square. It was built back in the 13th century and added to over the centuries. It was a bit of a wait but worth it. By the time I reached the top the bells were chiming. (See video.) You can also learn about how chocolate is created and of course watch a demonstration and taste the amazing pralines ...
