... Back to the room for a siesta and relax, dinner in the room again tonight. 13.11.14 Sicily to the mainland. Tomorrow we head off Sicily onto the mainland and make our way North towards France. Sicily, what did I think. Taormina and Cefalu were excellent. Siracusa, not so nice. Interesting morning driving through Acireale to find a vet as Tia has a very weepy eye. Firstly the narrow road where Italian drivers do not want to let you through so we got a little stuck and Giles did an amazing manoeuvre and somehow we did not scrape the van. Part way down the hill to our hotel I stopped in the Giardino Pubblico which is a lovely lush shady park....created and bequeathed to the town by who other than an eccentric Englishwoman in the 1920's. It is quite a lovely tiered garden with odd pagodas, mosaic paths and a statue to commemorate World War II. Taormina is lucky to have had Florence Trevelyan create this garden to watch ...

The breakfast was great and even featured some fruit along with the usual pastries, yogurt, bread, cheeses and salamis. This morning the bread was hot out of the oven.
