... It was a great decision! The city was both vibrant and beautiful - though the wind was piercingly cold!

We walked from the main train station, which itself, is a sight to behold, through the shopping streets towards the waterfront. We stopped for lunch in a great little health-cafe type place and had delicious soup and rolls. They had a highchair so Arthur got to have his lunch as well!

... Vleeshuis, the old building that used to belong to the meat worker's guild. It's essentially a building made to look like bacon, which is pretty amazing.

I kept wandering around, but wouldn't you know it, most of the things I wanted to see were closed for works. I walked back to the Meir and detoured back to Napoleon's old residence for a hot chocolate. In Belgium, you can buy wooden spoons with a big block of chocolate on the end ...

... shopping, eating some delicious waffles at "La Maison de Dandoy", seeing the cathedral and eating les moules frites (the unclaimed national dish of mussels and fries.) Personally I ordered steak, but did try two mussels, because that is apparently what you should do while in Brussels. The amount of work to be done in cleaning the cathedral is incredible.
