... started.... Wrong... When we got to the recommended location at about 9:30AM there was not a single person in sight... Soon enough we learned that this location was towards the end of the parade, hence why there was no crowd yet formed. We decided to hop back on the tram (which we rode illegally for the 5th time that weekend), and head towards the start of the parade. ... and hundreds of horses too! Everything was so colourful and the crowd was so loud and excited, it was a great atmosphere! We stayed through the entire parade - which lasted around 5 and a half hours! - and enjoyed every minute! It was a long day, and we did get rather cold, but it was entirely worth it to experience a proper German tradition!

... meant we had to switch to another carriage and there weren't enough seats for everyone meaning we had to constantly move around. It was unpleasant, crowded and rude; just what tired travellers don't need. Even though we hit speeds of 300kph, we arrived in Mannheim 30 minutes late and then had to wait 20 minutes for a tram that didn't even go to Edingen because of maintenance!
