... Lygon Arms--the mob's beer glass tower construction-building jollies finally got to me too and we bailed yet again, this time for home, and totally missed the torchlight procession.
Maybe if we're still here next year we might have acclimatised and actually be fit to join in.
Though... the last and only torchlight procession we've ever been to -- in Goring for the Christmas carol-singing and bonfire in 2013 -- ended up with me copping a singed anorak.
After that it was hard to decide between the camels or the birds of prey, the Amazing Star ride playing rock hits from the 50s or the Punch and Judy show, the marching band or the Morris dancers.
Off to the side was a tall suspicious-looking pole topped with a huge bale of straw stuck on top.
Was it some sort of feeding apparatus for the camels? Or did it have a more sinister purpose? Definitely something to keep well clear of! ...

Drove into Stratford this morning to have a bit of a look around. People everywhere. Walked past the river Avon and then into the tourist precinct. Stopped for a cuppa and scone, jam and clotted cream. Drinking a lot of tea over here cause the coffee is a bit hit and miss- more often than not it is not to our liking.
