Rose: It's an early start from Kaikoura. We head to Picton where we catch the 3 hour ferry over to Wellington. We're staying at the modern and very centrally located YHA. The only down-side is the school groups but it serves to highlight how free of any responsibilities we are. The morning is spent lost in cyberspace. ... surprised at the speed and the amazing turning radius these vehicles could handle. It was a blast! After lugeing we headed straight over to the Maori Cultural Centre for a hangi/performance. A hangi is a traditional Polynesian method of cooking in which the food is buried and cooked with hot rocks and steam. Het gaat om 4 kinderen die leven ten tijde van de tweede wereldoorlog en verhuisd worden vanuit de grote stad naar het platteland ivm de bombardementen op de stad.
