What a wonderful stay we have had in Juneau. Lots of walking and bus catching to get us as about. The locals have been very friendly - I think they like the 'out of season' travelers as they can stop and talk.

No internet service on board except at 75 cents per minute. A bit expensive.
Open ocean cruising all day Thursday on very flat water, so just had a relaxing day using ships facilities.
Managed to get internet in Juneau Library, Don't expext any regular entries for quiet awhile. We will do when the opportunity ...

... next stop was Juneau the capital of Alaska, which was founded by a gold rush in 1880
we hopped on a shuttle to the Mendenhall glacier which was awesome,majestic even,with a bluey,aqua tinge of colour to it,and nearby was a huge waterfall,and we saw salmon in the streams,it was amazing.
next stop was Icy Strait point.a small town where there is a lot of marine life,we saw lot and lots of salmon ,and quite a few eagles.

There was nothing in the brochure about having to walk to get to the waterfall...

It was worth the walk..
The trip has been renamed 'The peripatetic expedition' thanks to another of Carolynn's friends, Annie in Brisbane..
For those uneducated.. Google it!!!
