... with two feeding bears to watch. Then just as we were leaving, Blondie surprised us by emerging from the forest. We had to beat a hasty yet measured retreat from the shoreline. Sunday Juneau! Today got off to a great start - when we woke up, the ship was in the Inside Passage and we went up on the deck to see whales outside! They were quite far away at first, but they came right up close to the ship. We spent ages watching them and trying to get photos - every time we passed one group (pack? Pride? ... amp; some suggested places to visit. We went to the Juneau-Douglas City Museum which cost $6 each. It was just as well there was a 25 min video on the history of gold mining in the area because the rest of the displays were pretty limited. Next was to see the Governor’s 'Mansion’. It does look like a mansion although much of it was covered in scaffolding. The Alaska State Capitol, like our Parliament House, was also closed for renovations. I guess summer is the only time ...
