... Inside is a performing centre, which like in Sitka, is along the lines of their Longhouse. Outside this are three enormous carved and painted panels as would be on the outside of their centres. By now the rain had pretty much stopped but we still had an hour before the bus was to leave so we went up to the library, on the top floor above a 4 storey car park. ... Brotherhood Hall (now the tourist bureau) which was built in 1899 and decorated with over 8,800 driftwood sticks gathered from Skagway bay. Some of these have been replaced and repaired over time but some of the original are still there. The Red Onion Saloon was a local brothel and is now the stage for some local thespians to tell the stories of the establishment! Next day we loaded the motor home on to the ferry IN THE RAIN, and we gave a friendly salute to Sitka and headed on our way to Juneau.
