No, we do not want to buy a carpet!

We got a little lost in the medina (old town centre) and its winding streets, but enjoyed finding our way back to our hotel which was a very traditional looking establishment complete with four-poster bed and great views from the roof. We also enjoyed a wonderful local meal of Chicken Tagine and Lamb with Couscous in the hotel’s restaurant.

After being on the road for 11.5 hours and with little sleep the night before, I was really pooped and didn’t want the salad, tagine and fruit brought to me at 11.30pm, when I arrived. I drank the coffee and asked for a second, eating a couple of piece so melon before apologising for leaving the rest. Having been shown to a stark, but private room, I dumped my bags, removed my clothes and joined the land of the desert ghosts.

Welcome to the Sahara
... after witnessing a small accident. A passing car had had a blow out on one of the rear tyres and done a 540 degree spin before careering off the road and almost flipping over when it hit a large embankment!. Amazingly no one was seriously injured, just a few cuts and bruises but the car was a total wreck. Everybody stopped to help out, the desert people are a very friendly lot.

... our guide in some sort of a hurry I did the only logical thing, I ran all the way down the dune at full speed, twisting and turning across my fall line to try and slow myself as my legs bury deep into the warm sand. I basically had to jump at every step to get my feet out and stop from falling flat on my face, but I made it to the bottom unscathed, puffed and totally invigorated.
