... kitty sniffing around and Chris gave it a little bowl of milk. I guess it liked the milk since the next day there were paw prints going up our windshield and then a butt print of it sliding down again. I guess it was looking for a way in. We haven't found a cat in the van yet so I guess there was none!
Well it was back to Paris the next day with one last stop off in Versailles. There is always something else to see!
... and of course washed down with a few glasses of rose!
Next morning we went for a run through the village and along the beach. It was a glorious morning! Afterwards Kim went to have another potter through the village, take some photos and buy groceries while I was able to have my long awaited fiddle with Scooby ...
... south west to Paris. The plan is to visit the villages on the river on the way to Rouen, and are rewarded with their beauty.
We arrive to Rouen late in the afternoon. We eventually and somewhat tentatively settle on a park on the riverside by some docked barges being used as houses.
Kim cooked up gourmet hamburgers which was washed down ...
Bonjour
It was an hour train ride to Rouen which is a little township north of Paris. The weather has now suddenly got a chill in the air. This must be what real French weather is like. I only came to check out the gorgeous gothic cathedral which rivals the Notre Dame in Paris. I preferred it more because there were few tourists and it is just as large with a creepier outlook, and the organ was amazing. Set close to the ceiling as most of them are, the ...
... way when bigger trucks passed by. Back in Rouen we visited the towns Gothic cathedral and tried to go on a tour of the city but it was the end of the day and no one else was going so the tour got cancelled. We went from shop to shop buying ingredients to make a sandwich. What started as a baguette turned into dinner after visiting a butcher shop, a produce market and a cheese guy (I will find out the tecnical French name for that before we leave the country.)
... and not wanting to feed five of us, we regretted the company as we did not want to stop.
We dropped them off at the entrace to another motorway and wished them on their way. We promptly stopped for lunch and a coffee!
Another experience ticked off our list at least.
As things were going well we carried onto through to Noirmoutier to our latest "Aires" in the centre of Noirmoutier at 7 euros per night
... which works to a point but when you're paying two pound per Mb it get expensive. In the great scheme of things its not much when your running a 7 ton bus but its still stupid and it does not re-route if (when)you take a good turning.
On the way to Noirmoutier, it attempted to take us over the "alternative" crossing at high tide!!
The first night was spent in a nice stop on the edge of the old port in Calais.
I've been here before when i did some sailing in my youth so i know it well.
It seemed safe enough as there must have been 50 motorhomes but there was a broken window overnight for someone!
We moved onto honfleur and found a nice stop 2Km from honfleur which was free and had a large football/basketball court for jake to play in
So for my second day in Nīmes, I took a closer look at the monuments Nīmes had to offer, including one of the best preserved Roman arenas (bullfights and other performances are still held here), a Roman temple (saw a very bad 3-D show on the Heros of Nīmes there... -_-) and missed the bus TWICE for Pont du Gard, which is a really well preserved aquaduct near Nīmes. sigh. some things do not change. Third time's ...
Vers-Pont-du-Gard, Languedoc-Roussillon, France alicetinYou arrive at the Pont du Gard much like entering a national park. A huge campground and parking lot, as well as, information center, museum, cinema, and café grabs your attention before you even get your bearings. Making a quick stop for a map at the info center, my father and I took off to see this amazing feat of engineering. At first heading the wrong way, yes France is no better with signage than anywhere else, we ...
