Historical Traveler Reviews Au GitAnn B&B Montreal
Great place to stay
This small B&B has just 3 rooms. We stayed in the larger room which shared a bathroom, with one other room. The room was a good size and had a small day lounge in the corner. The bathroom was excellent and we never had to wait to use it. Airconditioning just outside the bedroom, in the main living area was great given the heatwave during our stay. However, at night with the bedroom door closed, it did get a little hot.
On the same floor as the bedrooms is a very nice TV/living area and kitchen which allowed us to store food in the fridge, make tea/coffee and cook.
Although the breakfast was a "set menu" the food was of a very high standard. The host Ann was extremely hospitable and also friendly.
A short walk to the metro station and close to St Denis, full of great restaurants!
Would stay again!
Excellent b&b
This is an excellent place to stay in Montreal -- within walking distance of much of the most interesting parts of town, restaurants, etc. The hostess, Anne, is welcoming and gracious, and she made very good recommendations for sightseeing and food. The b&b is extremely pleasant, the room was immaculately clean, and the breakfasts are very tasty. We would not think of staying anywhere else in Montreal.
Wonderful Charming Little Gem
I can't praise my stay at Au Git'An6 n B&B enough. Ann is so friendly and helpful and she makes a superb breakfast. The room we stayed in was the larger room with the shared bathroom. It was clean comfortable and spacious. The shared bathroom was clean and immaculate. The location is perfect! 5 minutes from the closest Metro stop and a 5 minute walk to St. Denis with all it's variety of restaurants and cafes. It's also only a 10-15 walk to Old Montreal. I will definitely stay there again for my next visit to Montreal.
Absolutely Perfect
This Bed and Breakfast is the perfect place to stop while visiting Montreal. Ann is extremely friendly and helpful. The house is very clean and neat. I could not say enough about the food to do it justice. I highly suggest making this your place to stay if you are in Montreal. You won't regret it.
Immaculate, and charming
The location is ideal - close to metro and walking distance to Old Montreal and rue St. Denis. Ann is charming and warm, and more than willing to help plan our visit. The decor is beautiful and tasteful. And the room was comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious, too. I would love to return.
Wonderful B and B
we had a great 8 days with Ann in her wonderful home. Ann is the perfect host, willing to help with your travel needs or have a quiet chat. Her breakfasts are a gourmet experience. We stayed in the Picasso suite which was the perfect setup for a longer stay. It had lots of room and even a lovely balcony where we had a pre-dinner drink and watched the locals go about their daily lives. highly recommended
All you want from a B&B
I am glad to share my discovery of a wonderful B&B in Montreal. It's got everything that makes a B&B a pleasure to stay at:
Location: Just 2 blocks from the Montreal bus station and within walking distance to most points of interest in town
A most charming hostess: Anne is very accomodating, thoughtful and respectful.
Beautiful rooms and a common kitchen (rare among moderately-priced B&B's in Montreal)
Quiet: The rooms are in the back of the building so you can stay in downtown without really hearing it.
And I can't forget those delicious breakfasts too.
After having tried several B&B's in Montreal, this one is definitely my favourite.
Taste of Montreal
Absolutely loved staying the week at this beautiful well kept B&B. Situated close to the event I was attending, I was able to walk and enjoy the beautiful atmosphere of the City. Restaurants of every description were within walking distance. Premises were neat, clean and up-to-date and Ms. Messier was the perfect hostess. Parking was not readily available, but we managed.
Au Git'Ann was exactly what we wanted
We arrived at "Au Git'Ann" on a chilly winter evening. The door opened to reveal our warm and gracious host, Anne Messier, and softly gleaming wood floors. The decor is imaginative and pleasing, mixing old furniture with a refreshing contemporary lack of clutter-everything impeccably clean.
Our room ("l'Endormeuse") was charming, with the bed at one end and a reading alcove (single bed) at the other end. A small desk was very useful and there were reading lights in all the right places. A chest of drawers, shelves and closet provided plenty of space to unpack for the week. There was a small, well furnished kitchenette and shared sitting room which proved very useful a couple of nights when we came home late and didn't want to go out to eat. TV and phone were located in the sitting room, not our own room, which gave us a wonderful sense of being "on vacation".
We looked forward to a delicious breakfast each day - homemade pastries, jam, crepes, omelettes, etc - and lively conversation with Anne, who cheerfully and patiently helped us exercise our French, providing fresh insights about this vibrant city and its culture, politics, and history. (She easily switched to fluent English when our abilities lagged behind our enthusiasm!) Her suggestions for activities and excursions were always excellent.
For us, the location was perfect: a quiet, modest street but only a 5-minute walk to two subway lines (Berri-UQAM station), easy walk to the Place des Arts (Montreal Symphony, Musee d'Art Contemporain), the Vieux Port and the restaurants of St. Denis and surrounding streets.
Cosy and charming at the Git' Ann
A fantastic and warm welcome.
A lovely decorated and cosy room. Very clean and homely house.
A lot of useful information given about the town and anything we needed to know.
Air conditioning in the rooms
Terrific breakfasts, all homemade food, different every day and at the time we desired and for as long as we wished
Nice and interesting other guests, all nationalities.
Easy location, for train, taxis, and most importantly on foot.
Calm little street but in a terrific area.
Prices were reasonable, rooms with or without bathroom
And most of all an incredibly nice and generous person who lives and works in this lovely house.
I really enjoyed my stay in Montreal - a very interesting and exciting city - with Anne, have stayed in contact ever since and would highly recommend her Gîte/ Bed & Breakfast Git'Ann.
Ailsa - Meise - Belgium.

Always looking for a deal or a freebie - that's the Chinese way. You can try, but changing this fact is futile - it's hardwired into our minds, tangled within our strands of DNA ... so even when you can't score a deal, you feel like you were somehow shafted, like something was stolen from YOU, even when it wasn't yours to begin with. Case in point …
18,000 RPM
18,000 RPM - that's how fast F1 engines rev. They are LOUD, up to 140 dB in the cockpit!!! Eating breakfast this morning, we could hear the F1 cars doing practice runs, even though the B&B is a good 5 km from the track. It definitely cranked up the anticipation several levels, as if it wasn't already high enough! The only thing keeping me from …
Blame it on the Rain
All the buzz and all the excitement that was missing from yesterday ... was out in full force today! From the metro ride down to Ile St. Helene and the walk on towards Circuit Gilles Villeneuve ... there was no doubting that it was race day, and that everybody was hyped up for the event. Perhaps even more exciting was the weather conditions - it …
