... were built with the local brick, made in the local brick factory. (The original old factory was destroyed and replaced with a more modern one in the later 1900’s). The problem with Moissac brick is that it is made from a sandstone type rock, and does not hold up well to weather. The town is full of walls made of this brick that are badly eroded and produce shudders of sheer terror to earthquake minded Californians!
