Historical Traveler Reviews Ashgrove House Bunratty

Warm friendly welcome awaits you

from anonymous

Sheila, will assure you a warm friendly welcome in her beautiful home. We have stayed with her on both our trips to Ireland. She arranged our reservaton to the Bunratty Castle dinner, highly recommended for any first-timers to Ireland.

Nice place

from anonymous

The Place is very nice and clean. Frank seemed kind and caring. Unlike most B&B owners, he was not overbearing. The only problem is that the place is pretty far from the castle. Though frank will drive u to the castle if u want to stay late at the local bar you might have to get a cab back.

Ashgove House was top notch!

from anonymous

Hospitality was unrivaled, Frank and Sheila were fantastic! After two weeks in B&B's throughout Ireland we felt like we were coming home when we spent our last nights with them. No where did we encounter such warmth. Can't wait to go back!

Great intro to Ireland

from anonymous

Frank and Sheila made our first trip to Ireland a great experience. Lovely place to relax after the long plane ride. Close to many interesting places to visit. Great hosts.

Gracious Hospitality

from anonymous

My family and I had the good fortune to find Asgrove House, just a stone's throw from Bunratty Castle. Without doubt this place is superb in every respect. Proprietors Frank and Sheila are most gracious and attentive hosts. They go the extra mile for each guest, and went far out of their way to ensure we had reservations taken care of at the big attractions in the area. When we arrived all we had to do was enjoy ourselves. The house itself is not only centrally located, it is charming! B&B's are the best way to go through Ireland. Quality does vary. Ashgrove House is tops!

A Home Away from Home!

from anonymous

My husband, brother, sister-in-law, and 5 year old niece spent a few days enjoying the warmth and friendliness of Frank and Sheila at Ashgrove House in June. We felt like we were being welcomed by close relatives! The rooms were very comfy, the food was excellent (Sheila likes sharing recipes!), and the atmosphere peaceful. Frank gave my husband excellent tips on driving in Ireland. He even enlisted my niece's help in putting together his new grill!

We look forward to another trip to Ireland and another stay with Frank & Sheila.

Wonderful stay

from anonymous

We stayed at Ashgrove House on our first visit to Ireland. It is very close to Shannon Airport and gave us a chance to collect ourselves before starting a two week trip around Ireland. Sheila and Frank were gracious hosts with terrific personalities. We talked at length and shared many laughs. The rooms were clean and well provisioned. As an added benefit, Sheila was able to recommend some very nice B&Bs for the rest of our stay. Sheila also booked us for the banquet at Bunratty, which I highly recommend. On our next trip, we will surely visit with Sheila and Frank.

Loved The Ashgrove House

from anonymous

We booked sight unseen our first night stay and last three nights in Ireland at The Ashgrove House, and I must say we were not sorry. When I say we, there were three people traveling in our party. From the first moment we arrived, Frank and Sheila made us feel welcome in their lovely home. They helped us out with suggestions, as to what we should see and do, where we could find entertainment and good food. Our rooms were on ground level with our own entrance which was really handy for transporting luggage. The beds were very comfy, cozzy. After a great nights sleep, we were treated to a huge, delicious Irish breakfast, with the best blood pudding in Ireland I'm sure. Then we were off on our journey with helpful directions from Frank and Sheila. They also booked ahead that nights B & B for us , which was a big help. Ireland was wonderful and we traveled around the whole Island, enjoying wonderful scenery and great weather.

But I have to say when our ten days were up and it was time to go back to The Ashgrove, it was like going home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there ,and we'll never forget our last night in Ireland, as Frank took us out to a little old fashioned pub with local musicians. There we danced and sang and enjoyed the Guinness. It was like a walk back in time and some day we'd love to do it all over again. I highly recommend the Ashgrove as a great place to stay, and as a big bonus it is only a short short drive to the Shannon Airport.

Loved Ashgrove House & the owners, the Tiernan's

from anonymous

Ashgrove House is a lovely place to stay. Frank & Sheila Tiernan couldn't be nicer. Have had many laughs with them & would'nt even think of staying anyplace else when I'm in Co. Clare. Proximity to Bunratty, Shannon Airport and fun night spots make it an ideal location whether you've just arrived or just leaving Ireland.

Ashgrove is topnotch

from anonymous

Ashgrove House is topnotch! I have stayed with Sheila and Frank several time and have always been pleased. From the welcoming "Irish Coffee" to the hugs goodbye this is one of the best parts about coming to Ireland. Hope to return soon.
