... the season's last showings of King Richard II at Vancouver's beloved Bard on the Beach! We had studied relatively hard for this play so they really got a lot of it and found the performance to be top notch! What a wonderful finale to our summer

... My preference for a quiter place leads me to Kata Beach which is also on the same side of the Island but a 10 minute drive south of Patong. I stayed at the Orchid Acea Hotel there which I highly recommend. It's located on a hillside across the street from the beach which is world class by any measurement and only a 5 min. walk away. Breakfast is included and I paid about CAN$75. night for a 10 day stay. Cost would be double to triple for something ...

... said that don't worry, we were fine - the flight was delayed but not because of Kelowna, there was just a bit of fog in Vancouver but they were getting in. OK, we were off - NOT! After hours on the Kelowna tarmac, off loading and then onloading again, we finally arrived in Vancouver 6 hours late having successfully missed our connection to Seattle and our Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt/Cape Town by about 3 hours. I am a little frustrated because I just spent a half hour doing the blog, and lost it, so I am starting all over again!!!! First, to correct yesterday's blog, the huge trees in Stanley park are not redwoods, they are red cedars, and they are Huge! Speaking of trees, there are palm trees outside our hotel. Palm trees! ... went to some rave club and i pumped some shots then set the dance floor on fire. i was just getting into the groove when oh its 2 we are closing. er.... OK. the next day i finally got moving to Calgary. there i met my friend i made in Berlin. he had let me stay at his place and after a big walk into town i finally found a net cafe to get his no. i called him he came picked me up. we went for a nice walk around the local area then his uncle took us for a coffee ...

... ootside and got cash oot of the ATM withoot any problems. Something good came oot of the waste of time, we got some advice on a pub to go and watch the England game. Obviously with it being my lucky day England lost. We then went for a wander aboot and on the way back to the hostel it hailed just to top off a fantastic start to my Canadian adventure. To be honest, I've found all of it quite funny, although if it continues it'll maybe not be such a laugh!

... weekend. You will have noticed that we have spent longer in Vancouver than the Itinerary shows. Whilst I like this city and could easily stay a long time here, we have had a dental problem that has been slowly developing and during this week we have gone from root canal work to an extraction today. Hopefully this will now solve the issue and we will move on. Friday 19th The winds blew themselves out in the night but today is very drizzly, so we've decided to move on to Vancouver Island.
