... the diamond trade. We tried to sample some of the rich history Antwerp has to offer by doing a walk of the city highlights but unfortunately were beaten back by the weather. We did see the beautiful Cathedral of Our Lady, one of the biggest Gothic cathedrals in Northern Europe and the Grote Markt which is the main square in the city where the town hall stands. Driving rain curtailed the sightseeing for today though and we retreated to the hotel bar for a glass of wine. Dinner ...

Forgive the post dated entry, but I had to share the fact that we did one touristy thing in Brussels.

On our last day in Brussels we attempted a semi-touristy outing. We visited one of the outdoor markets in the city. Those of you who saw the movie Tintin might recognize it as the marketplace where Tintin purchases the model of the Unicorn. The market is ...

We were excited when we arrived in the Antwerp central station – the first sightseeing stop of the city. It is a great structure, fusing historical and modern architecture in a subtle and interesting way. We then took the wide main streets, lined with large expensive shops and bustling with tourists, into the old part of town and found our accommodation by following the streets to the Cathedral of Our Lady. Our room ...
