... funeral boats, fire boats, garbage boats and sewage boats. It really is a different world. The hospital here is one of the most beautiful in the city.

All and all I really loved Venice along with the other zillion tourists. I'm glad we were able to get here.

Tomorrow on to Malta. Ciao Italy. It's been wonderful.

No pictures from here - maybe the wifi will be better in Malta...

... 2 people can't walk side by side. We walked to Piazza San Marco which was stunning. The big surprise was us managing to find our accommodation on the way back without getting lost. We met our hostess Sonia who is lovely and very chatty. She has given us some good tips for tomorrow including telling us where the real venetians shop, and the best places to go. It will be nice to have an early night - hmmm, it is now 10.30pm, so where has that time gone to!

... hit a couple of dead ends, but with GPS and Google maps there is really no chance of getting genuinely lost. After we've had our fill of walking we head for the train station at the north-eastern end of the island, to get our bearings for our departure on Thursday; we'll board the train here and head off over the causeway on our way to Florence. Having confirmed the station is indeed there, we grab a gelato and wander home. After ...

After blogging till 1 am last night, we finally settled down for the night. It wasn't the best nights sleep that we've had, but we did manage a few hours. Gary on the top bunk, initially very concerned that he might actually fall out of bed during the night. After unsuccessfully looking for a belt to strap himself in for the night and plenty of reassurance from me that he will be fine ( I did offer to swap with him ) we drifted off to sleep. We noticed that ...
