Hamilton Academical v Hearts 6/12/2009

Travelled from Fife over to West of Scotland and Hamilton, just south of Glasgow.
Watched the game which Hamilton won 2-1 and really enjoyed the atmosphere. On the radio on the way home though learned that there had been fighting in the players tunnel after the game and the Police had been involved. Boys will be boys!!
Sat with the Hearts fans ... not happy! Team were poor and they can see their club is in decline!

The Heart of Scotland

... city and the first time that we have felt relay cold!

Porridge (with salt not sugar) for breakky.

Sunday morning was the "Barras". Markets selling all sorts of goods, trash, treasure and the like. "Come on folks, it's all cheap because it's all stolen"

Really enjoyable weekend and great to stay with a family and see what they say is "The Heart of Scottland"

In the land of kilts, fish and chips.

... if you are trained in the area of expertise, you communicate to each other what that space represents personally.

As we traveled through the city we noticed the astounding architecture that had been built. Most of it was very modern, comtemporary work because of the war destruction in the Glasgow area. We took a look at the famous art school and imagined for a second what it would be like to work in their studios.

P.S.DON'T plan to eat outside Pompeii site-take something with you or use cafe inside.

Roundabouts and One-way-streets?? riiight.

... stopped at a vet clinic (yes a vet clinic) and asked how to get to the road we needed to get to. The vet couldnt stop laughing at the fact that we sincerely thought we were in Glasgow. Oh no, we were actually in RENFREW!! A comparing factor would be St. Thomas to Toronto. So now that we are at our hostel (yes our hostel, no breakfast cooked for us tomorrow), we are deciding to maybe stayin Glasgow another night because we havent got the feel for ...

Stupid airports

I was getting an early morning flight last Friday morning, from Dublin to Glasgow Prestwick.

The flight was delayed by an hour, and as it's a 50 minute drive from my parents house to the airport and my dad was picking me up, I called him to tell him not to leave - but he'd already gone.

I tried to get more info by looking on both airports ...

... out of Iraq, and there were many many groups there, including the Communist Party, Socialist Party, and other groups like the Palestinian support group or Iraqi-English community or something like that. There were a LOT of people marching, including several kids that couldn't have been more than about 8 years old. We don't think they understood the significance of the signs they were holding..... On the same street, we saw a bunch of young people dressed in black t-shirts ...

Stop here

... it made me feel sick. I was nervous the whole night, especially after a few pints. Walking back through Glasgow that evening people were stopped in the streets looking at tvs in pub windows to get the latest. There was an obvious uneasiness about, along with a large presence of police. It was something a shall never forget. I rang Mum that night so that she wouldn't worry. The following day was a happy day however as I got to catch up with Will. Will had summer employment ...

Yum, a Home Cooked Meal

... read that the mighty Roman Empire could not conquer the Scots past this point, hence the wall's construction. With a little further to go we diverted off the motorway and finally hit the Scotland border. Rick's Mum, being a MacKenzie, was rapt to finally be in Scotland. Just over the border, on the Scotland side, is a little pub that doubles as a registry office. In the past you could get married in ...

Another Lovely Day In Glasgow

... like Amy C can come....but some people have a discipleship home group tonight...so if I don't see them tonight I'll see them on Sunday at church. I've been very blessed so far with being able to see friends...God has been good to me. Tomorrow my parents and I will leave Glasgow early by car to travel up into the highlands for a few days. So I may not be able to email for awhile...we'll see. We'll be going past Loch Lomond (hoping to stop at the wee town of Luss to have tea and scones ...
