... t completely missed the fall leaves turning on the trees and the Green Mountains are beautiful because of it. I got very excited over some covered bridges in Bennington, we ate dirty food in a redneck diner and some not so great Mexican food in Manchester Center. So far so ...

... adjacent to the noisy, busy freeway, secured one night in a serviced pull through, turned on the air conditioners (it was warm), put on the Giants game and relaxed with some fresh caprese from our larder.

Perhaps we would have remained overnight up in the Berkshires had we found an open campsite. The Walmart in North Adams doesn't allow overnights so we moved on.

... Imaginative renovation includes long verandas and bold inside/outside spaces. The interiors mix striking, colorful style with homage to the generations of mill workers’ families who lived here. The inn and its amenities…breakfast, the pool and more, are outlined a few clicks away...along with the rich attractions of this unique region. Dare to come...to Porches, to North Adams, to the Berkshires. You may never be the same!

North Adams and Williamstown are two towns a few miles from each other in the northern Berkshires that are quite different. If Williamstown is the quaint New England ideal of a quaint small college town with white steepled Protestant churches, North Adams is the somewhat less photogenic sister, a mill town populated by later immigrants in late 19th century that's fallen on hard times.

... Williamstown participates in the Berkshires summers of high culture with the annual Williamstown Theatre Festival at the Williamstown Playhouse over two months from June to August and is also home to the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, a major private art collection and museum focusing on European Old Masters through Impressionist works. During my visit "The Clark" was undergoing ...
