... two ladies who were touring in a camper van and thought they'd spoil themselves for a night. The conversation was easy, the little lad cute, the food lovely. I had venison for a starter, Hazel had carrot and ginger soup. For mains I had rump of lamb, a tad overcooked, whilst Hazel had fillet of beef. We finished with a passion fruit cheesecake and the cheeseboard that we shared. With Baileys and shortbread to end we shuffled off to ...

... after the passengers. They usually work 2 days a week and Isabella told us she was working Christmas Day as there would be a cruise ship in and as she is on her own she's free to help out. She's Scottish with a lovely accent and comes from a place near Glasgow so we're almost related. Ken is of Scottish descent as well. Not surprising as Dunedin was settled by Scots. Next stop, Oamaru!

I drove to Wanaka via the Crown Range- at 1000m it’s the highest pass in New Zealand and had a fair few hair pin turns! Apparently there are great views from the pass but unfortunately my eyes didn’t leave the road as the rain ...

We arrive in Port Chalmers nice and early in the morning to be greeted by the beautiful view of this harbour and the view leading along the valley towards Dunedin. After we disembark, we board our tour bus that will be taking us around Dunedin and up to Larnach Castle.

We head out the port and take a leisurely drive of about 15-20 minutes into Dunedin where we first drive through the University grounds. This place is huge as it accomodates over 30,000 students as well as all ...
