    We did, indeed, make it into Monticello today. Thomas Jefferson designed the house and built it on the very top of a hill, taking advantage of the magnificent 360-degree view.




    We had lunch in their café, went through the museum, and browsed the gift shop.

    ... food of the frontier'! Corn bread and BBQ, beans and fried chicken, mashed potato and biscuits (which are more like thinner scones than our biscuits) with gravy or stewed tomatoes. It was all really good, hearty food and the atmosphere was great as well! I could just imagine this type of food being eaten on cold, snowy nights by roaring wood fires. Very American, and I enjoyed it :)
