    ... along the side of the road! It was on it's own (we didn't see a mother bear), and looked a bit scrawny. We stopped alongside it for a quick photo before then leaving the bear to continue on it's way. We continued our drive back down to the beautiful town of Charlottesville.     ... Civil War battlefields it was mainly spared from actual conflict and damage during that time. To be honest I'm still getting my head around the civil war.     We done a day trip to the historic village of Harpers Ferry which borders 3 states. A great little place for lunch and packed with tourists.
    The next day we took a quick ride up to West Virginia so I could tick another state off on my bike then we headed for Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive.
    Had an amazing ride along the ridge of the mountains with stunning fall scenery. Even saw a couple of baby bears in a tree which caused the usual 'bear jam'. ...
