... Back on the high street we see the Cross Well standing in front of the Burgh Halls. We learrn that this well was made in 1807 by a one-handed stonemason and is an exact replica of a well dating from 1535. ... so majority of them speak quite sloooowwwllly and with pronounced annunciation. It really makes me feel for those guys in Chinese restaurants in Sydney that deal with people day in, day out who order “fli lice pls” in loud ocker voices (Mr Sid Cassidy particularly comes to mind!!).
