Lynn came up to the place on Friday and we spent a most enjoyable weekend together. We hiked and read and ate and slept...all good things.

... the pans screwing them into the wooden supports and adding more screws and washers to improve what the factory thought was adequate. Job done!

We hit the Costco, Super Walmart, Target, local grocery store and packed our shelves and refrigerator with lots of stuff. Unfortunately, we had reservations in place for our next destination and we could not extend our stay in Helena in order to explore the Capital Building, Cathedral and ...

... as they are everywhere and b. as they have free wifi in them, we stopped at one along the way to find some accommodation. Air B&B to the rescue again and we headed for Helena. We had never heard of it but it turns out it's the Capital of Montana and has a population of 28,000 which is 1/10th the size of Swindon. And it's really sweet. It sits in the mountains which unfortunately had been cloaked in the haze from the forest fires as the day went on.

... were stunning, the weather cool and comfortable, and the walking enjoyable. Charlie even spotted a couple of elk!
Later in the afternoon, we took a trip to Lake Helena for a picnic lunch. It's not much of a spot - just a boat access that claims to have a thriving bird community - but it was fine for our purposes.

July 6th: Betsy and I are prepared to begin our next trip, which officially starts tomorrow. We have been enjoying the heat of Sisters for the last three days, though we had a brief rain shower/thunderstorm this afternoon. We biked into town Friday evening for dinner at The Open Door, again on Saturday (actually to the airport) for an aviation fundraiser for the Sisters High School flying program - a chicken drop was the main event, again on Sunday for the pre-quilt weekend ...
