    ... near. At 7:00 we arrived at Burney Falls, where it was 92 degrees at the parking lot (in the shade!), although a good 20-30 degrees cooler down at the base of the falls! One neat thing about Burney Falls is that some of the water comes from the creek spilling over the falls, but a LOT of the water actually seeps through the porous volcanic rock wall fed by underground springs.     ... Volcanic Park to Nevada. What I liked about CA: They put traffic warnings on the road at a lot of places. If there is a stop up ahead they will write it on the road, lanes have turn arrows. The variety of weather, you could be in the valley and in an hour be in the mountains or on the coast.
