... Carmel is Pebble Beach, an incredibly expensive enclave (houses range between 1.5mill and 20-30 mill). Some are huge estates with mansions surrounded by multiple outbuildings and guest houses. There is a beachside road which winds along the front of this area called the 17 mile drive, which is acknowledged as one of the most beautiful coast drives in the world. The residents of Pebble Beach grew so tired of the hordes of tourists travelling this road ...

He was back in the prison hospital by 11pm that night being treated for exposure and hypothermia. - we found it to be highly atmospheric... The prison building was well preserved with cells and communal areas left exactly as they had been in 1963. The early evening light gave the whole place a very creepy feel as we learned, by way of audio guides, about the general unpleasantness ...

... this dream road until we reached Monterey and some civilisation. Here we managed to find a Days Inn motel and pulled in to get a room. OMG it was like luxury!!! We had a huge queen sized bed with big comfy pillows, a properly clean and modern bathroom with fluffy towels, and even a fridge, microwave and TV. It is very sad and ridiculous how excited I was at this comparative luxury. I jumped up and down in a joyous flap and immediately ran a bath. Aaa ...
