We took two buses into town, and out of town today, to see what the other side of the river had to offer. We found a quieter part of the city, set upon a hill, with deserted streets and restaurants welcoming customers with both arms extended. Following a recommendation we had brunch at a patisserie. The woman had no English so we practiced our phrase book French to order some macarons and a delicious vegetable laden open tart. We strolled the streets and took ...

Had a bit of difficulty finding where the main area of town was, but we got there ...

This morning we left Switzerland with a heavy heart, to head back to France for the next part of the tour. The majority of the day was spent on the bus traveling back over the border. We got Avignon late this afternoon and have been on a small walking tour of the city - the bridge and the palace of the popes are the main highlights of the city. I love the little European streets of cobblestone, ...

... But this was such a lovely experience, Monique was genuinely happy to speak to me, and discuss Australia and how Bruce was etc. Whilst talking we were also treated to another degustation! The white was the pick of the whites so far, and Monique explained that they are known for having one of the best whites in the area... And then the red. The classic red was lovely, but the "Vieilles Vignes" is amazing, another red made with only the old grape vine fruit. We confirmed that we ...
