... and I just knew we would hit. Then the deer sprang into the air and flew right over the Mini. Technically we hit it, but just barely. One of the deer's rear hooves clipped my side mirror and knocked it askew. When we got stopped I checked for damage, but it was just the mirror out of adjustment. I think we were very lucky. Sept 10th-drove and drove and drove to western part of the Upper Penisula. Nice roads to drive on, not much traffic except for huge logging trucks. Drove to the Porcupine Mountains. Simply AWESOME. It's called the North Lakeland Discovery center, and it was at one point a summer camp for the area's youth. It is now used primarily for events. reunions, retreats, that sort of thing. The director signed the camp up on warmshowers, and luckily there is no overnight program today, so I get to stay in the bunkhouse, a large, clean, carpeted room with several bunks, lights, power and wifi!
