This RV park was situated on a high hill, and the lights of the city could be seen below. There was a smaller hill at the edge of the park that had been turned into a scenic overlook area. Metal steps went up the steep side, and there were park benches and walkways at the top. The park management had even put a large stuffed bear on the top as a joke.

... to a dead end. Never got close to the Buffalo.

By then we were ready to head back to the RV Park. So we didn't complete the Lariat Loop Historic Byway but we had a great adventure.

When we got back to the RV Park, there was a neighbor who had bought some roasted chiles. The location they got them was about 17 miles away. A long way to go for chiles so we never made it.

... and I'm pleased to say I wasn't the first. It was quite awesome to be at almost eye-level with most of the peak summits. There were many, many pull-offs and I stopped at almost all of them and just looked and looked. Some highlights include the Alpine tundra. I think Eskimos when I hear tundra, but the park has over 100 sq. miles of it. I also stopped at the Alpine visitor center, highest in the whole park system at 11,796 ft.. And I got to ...
