Brisbane city sights

... loose around the engine/exhaust connection so that she was leaking and sounding more like Del Boy's 3-wheeled banger than the smooth runner she normally is.
Anyway whilst she spent the day at the spa, being pampered and massaged, we headed into town to see the city sights. Brisbane is so easy to get round- for just $5.80 per adult you get unlimited use of all buses, trains and ferries within zones 1 & 2 (which is basically the city ...

The Yongala, Fraser Island, Byron Bay and Brisbane

... we drove for three hours to a spot named Mackay and stopped there for the night, before waking early the next morning to begin our 10-hour drive to Hervey Bay. It was a long day, but luckily, the weather held out and we had a sunny drive. Although most of the east coast is gorgeous, this stretch was pretty desolate and dry…just a ton of sugar cane fields, big patches of gum trees, and a lot of unlucky kangaroos on the side of the road! That night we ...

Queensland - The sunshine state

Watching what!

Our road trip is coming to an end, we are only a few hundred + km away from Brisbane ("ahh not far"). We have had two stop offs, one at Hervey Bay the place to go whale watching and Noosa.
In true tourist fashion we set off early with a gang of other excited campers to see what we could see far out to sea. Our vessel was named 'Whale Song" and she was of good size. Max, now a seasoned seafarer knew the drill and asked for two ginger tablets before ...

Who's excited then ?

... handwritten travel diary but so far it seems like 'cut 'n' paste" is the way to go.

I will be uploading one or two pictures a day while we are on the road to this blog but the main site will be Flickr (not a typo) and I'll post a link to that website later.

Note to self need to find another word to begin the paragraph other than "I"

Back in civilisation

... delights I had almost forgotten, like couches and refrigerators! One of them is keen on spear fishing, so I have been promised fresh fish straight out of the ocean for Saturday lunch! In other news, I am seriously considering going to England at the end of this year to do the English leg of the company's tour. With a British passport, I could travel to various parts of Europe at the same time, and this is a rather appealing idea...

Brisbane

Brisbane from the river

... centre. For less than $15 (there were three seniors in the party) we got tickets to use all day on the river and in fact that's all we used apart from walking all day. We took the CityCat to the city centre, where we all did some shopping, before having lunch in the Myers Shopping Centre (to stay cool). After lunch we walked to the Botanical Gardens, which were also very cool and peaceful and full of native wildlife and trees, bushes and flowers. Next stop was the river ...

Day 81 - Noosa to Brisbane

... up and wandered into the very heart of Queensland's capital city, and to a nice lunch spot I remembered called Anzac Park, which provided an oasis of greenery amongst the skyscrapers.

There's is a big foodcourt next to/under the square, so after looking at every type of food you could imagine, we plumped for some Malaysian laksa noodle soup. I finished formatting our latest mini ...
