Crikey, croc spotting at Steve Irwin's Zoo!

... tiered seating could hold well over 2000 people. Within it's grassy middle was a waterhole where they displayed, of course, the crocs- crikey! Saw the usual koalas, kangas, wombats and birds of prey, but also got to see some more 'less-native' species like elephants and tigers.

... thing we saw (other than the massive wreck and the colorful coral reef that resides upon it) was a Queensland Grouper named "VW", because the grouper is the size of a VW Beetle! I honestly thought something was wrong with my goggles when I saw it…it’s enormous! We also saw a ton of sea snakes (they swim harmlessly past people all the time), a green turtle and a huge loggerhead turtle…it was beautiful! Also saw large trevally hunting ...

Queensland - The sunshine state

Also ...

The beginning of the dream

... time to get lost underground...Popped out of Paddington for a pint of lager as you do and a bite to eat at the Pride of Paddington. Pulled out my stubbie cooler and was immediately accused of being an aussie by an aussie guy who worked in Cannonvale at home. Small bloody world really. Back to the airport after an eventful whistle stop tour of the sights of London and on to Cairo, where we arrived just after midnight.

Art?? Really?

... ordinary pots and bowls which one might well find among one's collection of tableware in the kitchen cabinet. They were labeled ingenious descriptions, like 'black pot', 'white bowl', or the even more creative 'woman on horse'. Still, I have decided I like Brisbane a lot better than Sydney, and the city had a nicely relaxed, spaced out feel, so all in all, I would have to say I enjoyed the day.

Stopped over at Brisbane airport for re-fuelling & transit. The airport was very nice. Chic, but in a relaxed kinda way. And there was a perfume clearance offer at the duty free shop!! Habis sembur & test, sampai aku sendiri naik peningbau wangi time boarding. Got myself a D&G Masculine for AUS47 dollars!

Decisions decisions ....

... flights back to go home earlier, and was changing from Hong Kong to Singapore to save money - we are travelling sheep aparently! A random Brisbane fact - I reckon about 50% of the city, if not more, eat Dominos pizza on Tuesdays. They have this offer that any pizza, must be the equivalent of a medium one at home, is only $5.50. Thats about £2.25. Seriously, im never going to be able to buy Dominos pizza ever again in the UK, the prices at home - what a rip off !

... hr return hike, which we couldn't really be bothered with. The view was cool up there though...

So a few minutes later we were headed for Brisbane, and for my good friend Andrew, known simply as "H" throughout our time together on an exchange program at a university just north of Dallas, Texas.

H is a fantastic bloke, and has an equally lovely wife called Simone, who I'd met on ...
