... and the Mayors Mansion...stunning mansion run by Dick. We are the only gusts tonight and after a walk in the park behind here we went to the Laurelhurst Market...a combo restaurant/butcher. We both had Steak and Frites and both were yummy! We then walked to the Whole Foods and checked out the wines...bit too pricy for us though. Now we are back at the Mansion and are getting ready for bed after tea and ...

It was back to the hotel for a cup of tea and freshly-baked cookies provided gratis by our friendly American hosts.

... or end! We talked with most everyone who was home, got into a search for a dog that had opened the front door-so how lost can it get on a 2.88 sq mile island. We had his laundry with us so stopped at a place he was care-taking and washed them (then took them home to put out on the clothesline). We also invited people to a bonfire on the beach tonight. We went to the post office-a building about the size of most kitchens, where the mailman dumps the mail ...

... I split the roast beef, blue cheese, caramelized onion concoction toasted in the wood-fired oven. Drool, baby, drool!

Last but not least was the winery Bella Vida. This is a diamond in the rough! To approach it one must travel up a narrow rather dusty road. The view was the most outstanding and the man who owns it could not have been more cordial and likable. Our entire group of ...
