... of the corner of his eye he saw something large coming through the channel. This turned out to be a very large beaver, which swam on the surface right across the pond to a channel on the other side, then disappeared into long grass. He emerged later, but was too obscured by the long grass for photos then, though we got some good ones when he was swimming.

We carried on along the path, but talked to a couple on bikes coming the other way, and they advised that ...

... and a bear. We barely had time to spot them with binoculars, let alone get a picture of any of them.

Our biggest fears about cruising is that we won't have enough time to properly see things in port. What we've come to realize is that the places they pull into, don't need much time. A day is usually good enough to get a lay of the land. We could always fly back if we wanted to see more. Some cruisers don't do anything but shop at the ports. We ...

... morning the local news reported on a bar fight. No murders, no scary gangs; no, just a bar fight, so our neighborhood really doesn't bother me. We have bike/ski paths beginning just a block away, the Charley dog has a bunch of parks all around our area, and we can walk to downtown, so its all good:) Also, we have a guest bedroom, so seriously when are you guys coming to Alaska, cuz we meant it when we said please visit.

Ok, so ...

We were on the road for 22 days.
We had no flats or other technical issues.

We have learnt a great deal out of this trip and we are planning to post a lessons learnt in a few days.

We hope you enjoyed it a bit and had fun as we did!

Thank you

It's a Zoo--and it isn't Wasilla!

... highly recommended (via Yelp) for dinner, and since we couldn't get into a couple of other places--note to self: always make reservations if you are in Anchorage--we settled for a place that doesn't take reservations. Food was excellent. We ate little dinky crabcakes for an appetizer, and then Tim had a salmon burger and I had salmon grilled on a plank. Excellent.

Tomorrow, we head to Denali National Park.
