... a visa, we could not stay. It seemed our only option was to turn right around and sail back to Helsinki this evening, seeing little of St Petersburg, which was actually the original goal of this entire trip. Finally, our luck changed when the hotel staff said they would make an exception and offered us a room. Never has a hotel room looked so inviting and luxurious. Fortunately the trip on LOT polish airlines was lovely. Very attentive staff, food, free drinks, old fashioned service. All went well and we arrived in Krakow and checked in to a lovely small hotel in a UNESCO heritage area-old Jewish quarter.
