... lit up and look almost Christmassy especially in the dark. I couldn't believe that the canals have no railing or anything by them, you could just walk in, not that you'd want to. The pavements are super wide as they have a built in bike lane. It's crazy, bikes are everywhere, they have their own car park and line the streets. Today we went by tram to a very popular beautiful Park called Vondel Park for a lovely walk.

Next a free concert at the Concert Gebouw where every Wednesday there are free concerts.
Today it was in the small hall and it was the Flex Ensemble, a string and piano quartet and they played a piano quartet by Faure.The group has won many awards and they were excellent.

After our walking tour some people went off to do more exploring and one of us went to a coffee shop, not for coffee. My first impressions of Amsterdam are that the people are very relaxed here. There is very little honking, very few people shouting (except at night when everyone is partying); which is all replaced by the ting-tinging of bicycle bells. Everybody rides bikes here. I joke that there are more bicycles than people to ride them. ...
