Saumur - last stay before Paris

When we arrived in Saumur, on the bank of the Loire River we had planned to visit the Office de Tourism to find accomodation, and hopefuly something self-catering, but the office was closed. We later found out it was bank holiday. However, thay provide such good services that there was an interactive screen so we could look up some hotels. We walked a short distance, along a main street where most of the shops were open and market ...

They consist of ground almonds in chocolate, which are then baked into a meringue. They are super tasty. Unfortunately, Virginie says that she's never seen ...

We left at 9.05 and drove the 93 miles through not very nice weather, arriving at 11.40. Luckily we got on to Pitch H02 which is near the toilet block but also the pool and restaurant. As we had stayed on the campsite before, we knew where everything was, which is always nice. We were actually just above where we had met Eileen and Phil from Ireland 3 years previously. This time, ...

... week! The cost was over 1000E for the 9 days and any milage over the 2000 would rack up big fines. We tried to negotiate but sadly that was not to be so we went and sat off in the corner to search the internet for better rates. This is something we have run into several times now on this trip--that people behind the desk won't offer a better rate--they instead suggest we go on-line. This seems backwards and a sad reflection on our society's lack ...
