Next stop was the Dr. Pepper museum in Waco, Texas. Dr. Pepper was developed by a drug store chemist. It was the alternative to Cola or Rootbeer. They advertised a "10, 2, 4" slogan that meant you should have Dr. Pepper at 10, 2, and 4 to boost your sugar level to keep you from getting tired. Originally Dr. Pepper was referred to as "a Waco", then it was named Dr. Pepper - as it gives you a "Pep".

... of my goals with planning this trip was marking off the state of Oklahoma. I had been to 45 states in the union with one of the remaining five being Oklahoma (the Great Lakes states being the others) The Talimena Scenic Highway gets its name from the towns on either ends. TALIhia, Oklahoma to MENA, Arkasas. At the midway point I was able to look at Lance and say with great satisfaction "Oklahoma...check"..

... the rain. We passed Fort Worth and soon saw Dallas city skyline. I was surprised how pleasant Dallas felt. As we drove to our couch-surfing host Anne’s home we saw lots of trees, parks, old red-brick houses and perfect lawns. All next day was dedicated to catching up with our blog, emails and calling family.
