... turn of the century. The pictures that I had seen of this site were some of the most beautiful that I had ever seen. I have been trying to get here for several years and this was gonna be the year. There was however one catch. Getting there required a tough 10 mile hike or some serious off roading in the jeep. Most tourists to the mill get there by professional jeep guides with specially equipped trail rigs. Who needs ...

... When the rain finally got to be too much we headed into one of the caves for a tour. Here we met Kenny. He was one of those guys that should never grow a beard due to the huge spacing between hair follicles on his face. This however did not deter him. He went on the grow a long thin beard that kind of looked like random strands of black thread were falling out of his lip and chin. It was not a good look but I digress. ... Pass as we headed to Buena Vista. We plan to meet Randy Peters and his wife Dori. Randy is a friend of mine who I worked with for many years at John Deere. Randy retired in 2009 and moved to his dream house in the mountains in Buena Vista. It should be a good visit. While traveling through the pass, Sheila and I stopped to have a bit of a snowball fight.

    Happy Trails,

Reflections on Our Alaska Adventure and Beyond

You thought our Alaska trip was a whirlwind adventure, listen to this. We arrived home August 5th, after a 1,400 mile drive from the Bellingham Washington's ferry terminal. We barely unloaded CC when it was time to leave for two weddings -- so much for "home-sweet-home." On August 8th, we drove to Davenport, Iowa for Judy's cousin's wedding; we returned home on August 12th only to leave (drive) for Huntington Beach California for the wedding of our ...
