Hi Everyone,

Ok, so it's the first official day of the blog. I can't promise too much, as I may have been force fed a few glasses of wine..

As expected we had a couple of 'issues' getting on the plane- namely my bag which was 4kg overweight! The nice man let me transfer the excess into my hand luggage, which was great in the sense that I didn't need to chuck any of my stuff, but it did mean we had to lug it round 4 ...

In der direkten Nachbarschaft meines Backpackers ist das Stadtzentrum mit vielen kleinen Geschäften. Die Hälfte davon, so kommt es einem vor, sind Souvenir-Shops. Was aber nicht so tragisch ist, da die Kiwis es heraußen haben, wie man richtig gute Souvenirs macht. Holz- und Muschelarbeiten überall. Ich bin um ca.7 aufgestanden und spazieren gegangen. I started to feel better by about 5 pm so we had dinner and then went off to the Hot Water Beach, absolutely fascinating. There is an area of the beach where if you dig you get to hot water due to the natural thermal springs caused by volcanoes. We started to dig but gave up in the end and stole someone elses spa! I didn't actually get in the water but stuck ...
