      - We had to stop for gas for the second time today in San Clemente.
      - Gas costed us $45.76
      - We also had to replenish on candy and ice. Candy was $13.57, and ice was $7.00
      - We decided to go to a nice dinner at a restaurant called The Shore, which costed me personally $40. The food was nice but I wished I didn't have to spend that much money for food.
      - Before heading to San Diego, we pull off to the side of the road and fall asleep in the ...

Americans have a reputation for being lazy. Lazy in the sense that we do not go out of our way to learn different languages. I'm guilty of this. Three years of high school Spanish were really wasted on me, I'm ashamed to say. Living 20 minutes from Mexico and having lots of opportunity to practice the language did me no good. When I traveled south of the border I would ask a question in English and could always find someone to translate. Pure laziness. ...

... br> .....HB Triathlon "postponed" due to the storm we just had. Lots of big waves and strong winds made the ocean unsafe for the swim. Since the run was along the shoreline, the run was cancelled as well. The city hopes to reschedule the race for sometime in June, but we won't be here. They told Mike that if he couldn't make it then that they would give him credit towards his next race ...

Depart LAX via American Airlines to Miami with connecting flight to San Jose, Costa Rica.

Arrive 9:20 pm with driver waiting to take us to Autentico Hotel - San Jose. Our guide Guillermo "Memo" Arrieta Webb surprised John with a birthday card and piece of birthday cake! John and I shared it and called it dinner!

The adventure is outlined on the map, focused on cloud forests and rainforests. The Pacific and Caribbean coasts were not the focus of this trip.
