We left San Diego and set off North along interstate highway 5......the Pacific Coast Highway (state highway 1) doesn't start until a bit further north. Our first stop was La Jolla, first the coves, then the beach. At the coves, there were loads of sea lions up on the rocks and swimming in the sea right next to the shores. Hundreds of them including loads of babies. It was very smelly though. Next stop was Oceanside harbour. ...

... episode of the Old West. In 1871, a group of convicts escaped from a Carson City jail. A posse was formed and, during its search for the escapees. was ambushed at the base of what is now known as Convict Creek. The lake and creek were named, obviously, after the convicts. ...

Hi All! Just checked in to our motel in the OC. We have a great little car and have spent the day cruising up the coast starting at Huntington Beach (think Hollister tops!), Newport and Laguna Beach. Each area had its own little feel and vibe to it and was amazing. In Steve's words, 'this is why I came to California'. We spent about an hour at each place checking out the shops and beach. Not a cloud in the sky either today-beautiful! Tomorrow we head to ...
