    ... erecting lot from the pub. I find this group the most daunting and would find it hard to keep up a conversation though I've managed it --with difficulty-- in the past.

    Usually they see me as an object of ridicule. Memories of Revesby Workers' Club come shudderingly to mind.

    Secondly, there's the cashmere cardigan sort (ladies) and neat trousers and checked shirt and tie (men) who seem to predominate here.

    Well, none of that came to pass.

    As the very hour that I was beavering away at the library computer, Pickfords had lifted their game and were delivering our boxes to a very much-relieved Rick and neighbours.

    By the time I got home (in a hail storm), Richard had already unpacked half of them, neatly folded the wrapping paper and the sky was beginning to brighten--as were our spirits.

    Day trip to the Cotswolds, with the highlight for me being a stop at the little town (Bampton) that stands in for the lovely village of Downton in the bespoke British class series Downton Abbey.     ... for what was a fantastic day.

    Quick digression . . . I had to ask the ferry master if Windermere was open to the sea (through locks). No it isn't. The reason I asked was because of the sheer numbers of ocean capable yachts on moorings. Many bays, could have been Pittwater.
