Gaudi day

A travel blog entry by evanvanderploeg

Today was planned to be a day of Gaudi, starting with the cathedral, then the park and finally one of the apartment buildings.

We caught the metro to the cathedral and went in with our tickets we had gotten online the day before. It was very, very epic in the cathedral, impressive to say the least. We wandered around for a while and could …

Barcelona bike tour

A travel blog entry by evanvanderploeg

After a more Australian breakfast of toast with vegemite we headed to the meeting place of our bike tour. We arrived early and easily found the tour guide in front of the Hard Rock Café (I have no idea who would eat there with all of the other options available). As we were waiting we saw more squeaky people and some beggars with photos of children …

A travel blog entry by evanvanderploeg

Our hostel was in an old building close to the centre of the city. It stated on their web site that it was a "fun hostel, not a party hostel", apparently that means it is super quiet. It was my first time in a hostel, and it seemed to me that we were always creeping around our dorm (6 person) because someone was there trying to sleep.

Day 13 - Barcelona

A travel blog entry by ek.and.ruby

We woke up this morning at around 9:30 and decided we would head to the La Seu cathedral near La Ramblas. We couldn't find it, so we headed down a street in the …

A travel blog entry by ek.and.ruby

This morning we woke up at around 10 am after having a fairly late night. The plan for today was to visit the Sagrada Familia (a bit cathedral designed by Gaudi) and Parc Guell (a large park on a hill looking over Barcelona). We got going by about 11:30 am and caught the train to the Sagrada Familia. The cathedral was really beautiful, but very …

This hostel has clean facilities. The staff are friendly and helpful. The only thing lacking was a community atmosphere, it was almost like a hotel with guests keeping to themselves.
