... riding, great switchbacks, steep fast descents, incredible scenery. Jimbo thinks these mountain roads would be worthy of a Top Gear style "great cycling" award. And we're not the only ones awe-inspired by these mountains - apparently the car chase scenes in the James Bond movie Goldeneye were shot here! (A sign post told us so!) Part way through the decent, we stopped at a shop, where we saw a lot of tourists around. A peek around the corner revealed ...

back to the hotel.

Next day we spent most of
time on the train to Zermatt via Spiez and Brig. This was the old route since
these days there is a modern tunnel cuts the time down by 60 mins but of course
no good for sightseeing. It must be a shortish trip since we saw many cars on
railway low loaders with people in them, presumably waiting to go through the

... were for my Uncle Tom and the Beachnaw family. I was very moved by this church and the feeling of peace when I entered. We arrived in Grindlewald at 9:00 pm after a long day on trains. We only got a short glimpse of the surrounding scenery but I'm feeling like we found our little slice of heaven! We can't wait to get up and explore ...

... that you can go out on the balcony of, an alpine experience thing with interesting displays to look at, an ice palace, and the plateau-where you go outside for a look see in what were very harsh conditions. The temperature was about -25C, and wind about 30kph. On the balcony of the research station it was quite well sheltered from the wind, so it wasn't too bad staying outdoors for a few minutes, but on the plateau where we were fully exposed to the wind, we couldn't really stay ...

... Carson were constantly switching between walking and being carried. It took a lot of encouragement to keep Maddox going, but Carson did a pretty good job keeping up (probably because he was in the backpack most of the time saving his energy).
