Winter Park is a large ski resort in the Rocky Mountains, just a 2 hour train ride from Denver. The train makes it easy to get to and you can stay in the town of Fraser or at the resort itself (15 minutes up the road). Fraser is much cheaper than staying at the resort and with a free shuttle on the half hour both are good options. It was an interesting time because the campground we had reservations at ended up being owned by a large casino. It was pretty funny to go from the tent on the edge of the lake and walk into a casino to get water and take showers. Lots of old people playing slots and smoking inside. we spent two days camping there and did a hike along the coast and ...

... climb would continue to do so throughout the day.
One of the first things I noticed is how quiet it was. Even though we were surrounded by numerous other cyclists there was not a lot of conversation taking place. Breathing was clearly the priority and conversation would have to wait until later. This was a continuing theme I would notice during the ride. After a few miles my legs began waking up and I was feeling pretty good.
As we climbed higher ...
