After a short 4 hour drive from Dallas we made it to our campsite in Louisiana. We are pretty central in Louisiana staying in a national park right on a lake. Assuming there are no alligators it will be refreshing to swim in it because the humidity here is not very fun. We met our camp hosts at the campground and there were about as typical southerners as you could be. As I tried to take pictures of one from the sidewalk, I found it was being used as a wedding venue and ...

... is across the lake. Sat around and visited with all the camp folks....Jimmy made his famous ribs...wow cooked for 8 hours...fell off the bones. We had splash beans....found out today what there were. Someone spilled the beans, no pun intended....so they are now called splash beans. White, red and pinto beans mixed with spices very good.
