... and voila there is grappa. I reallly do not like it, it is way too strong for me, but it was nice to see anyway. Since it was beginning of winter, they put up a fake ice-skating field in the middle of the square. On friday we saw the castle buon consiglio, it was old but quite interessting. at night we went on to Bolzano/Bozen in South Tyrol. We stayed a friend of a friends house, we've never met before. but it was vey nice. giavanni lives with heidi, who is from south tyrol. It was so interessting talking to her about the situation in there, Ofiicially they belong to italy, but ...
No marmite, just rain
Given that the roads around the Northern part of Lake Garda were closed to accommodate the marathon, we didn't find it at all difficult to navigate our way on foot, around to the harbour of Torbole, which is approx 3 km's to the East of Riva del Garda where we were walking yesterday.
The cycle route is clearly marked around round the lake, and can be a little treacherous on blind bends if you choose to head out to the Ponale Hydroelectric power plant which can be found ...
Hiking ahead of the marathon
... dry along the route. The climb back down, of course is easier but it is difficult to stay upright with the numerous loose stones underfoot.
Tomorrow Lake Garda hosts a marathon which according to the web is expecting 65,000 visitors and therefore the roads are close around the Northern end of the Lake... so it will be another en foot option for us and hopefully a trip down to Torbole and the Marmite Giant :).

Otzi the Iceman
... we had our worst experience yet with dinner. Ordered a pizza, salami something. Went all the way back to our hotel, opened up the box...and it was anchovies. We tried to eat it, but it fishy beyond fishy! Threw it in the bin and went out a second time to get kebabs. Much better option! Tip for life: always check the goods before leaving the store.
