Amster- dam it's good!
... They are basically a small fried food roll containing a meat stew. I must have had one every day we were in The Netherlands. It is not a place I could live without becoming gigantic.
The next day we cycled to Museumplein to visit the Rijksmuseum, which features a magnificent collection of Dutch paintings from The Golden Age. We saw one of the largest collections of Rembrandt paintings in the world including the Night Watch.

Holland - A land of contrasts........ and cheese
... the canals and squares which were all packed with people. For some contrast of our own we walked the Red Light Area which is where a lot of the ‘coffee shops’ (which is where you buy and smoke pot) and brothels (where the prostitutes display themselves scantily clad in windows) are concentrated. We also toured the Heineken factory, Anne Frank’s House and enjoyed local mini-pancakes for afternoon tea.

... Cheese was not particularly awe inspiring, but then again, plastic tastes like plastic pretty much anywhere in the world. Jumping back in the car, we drove back to the hotel. I opened the back to get some gear out and a small avalanche of luggage and flotsam exploded out all over the carpark. And that, ladies and gentlemen was fail number 7. Queen's Day
... age kids in the streets in the morning. The whole town of Amsterdam is a giant flea market with everything for sale from books to toys to furniture and lots of orange items in case you forgot yours.
We ate some fries with mayonaise in honor of our last day there. It was mess, but pretty good. The French did not invent the French fry, it was a cook for a Belgium king!

At last the first day of the holiday had arrived, but alas it was but a day of travelling. Due to it being a weekday I had to get the train to the airport which mean first getting a taxi into Leicester. The train arrived minutes after I got there and the journey had finally begun in earnest. The time on the train passed quickly and before I knew it I had arrived at Birmingham New Street station.
