... kitchen had automatically locked up and they had no way to serve food. I had the half-bag of honey coated peanuts in my bag and drank a lot of water. My neighbors were very nice and friendly but I was so tired of traveling. They cut the delay down to 30 minutes so I made my last train to Braunschweig (good thing, since it was the last train of the night) and took a cab home (the last bus was gone and it's too far to walk home).

... And the waffles are to die for! The city of the city is called the Grand Place and is this huge square with stunning buildings, most notably the "city hall" building (pictured here!)
There are also chocolate shops everywhere, even more than Switzerland. And there is lots of beer! We went to a really well known bar called Delirium that has over 2000 beers and it was packed with people. We ended ...

... to carry us over the train ride, we prepare for tomorrows journey into Germany, setting a course for the cathedral town of Cologne. Goodbye waffles, hello bratwurst, schnitzel and all things meaty. But before we set sail, we take this time to remember the good times in Belgium, where the people may speak French, but are luckily very kind to us and our silly foreign ways. I can only hope things go as smoothly by the time we reach Paris.

Took the German ICE train from Cologne to Brussels; it arrived 45 minutes late (so much for German efficiency). Then took the metro to the hostel, got to street level and was a bit lost. I had to muster up the courage to practice my French and speak to some locals about directions.
