... dramatically. Amanda led us along the glacier pointing out the rocks that have made their way down from the
top of the glacier from being forced between the layers of the moving ice. There were about 4 other guides that constantly surrounded the group incase of accidents or falls or to make sure people didn't wander too close to any crevices.

After 30 minutes on the glacier the helicopters arrived with a new lot of tourists and ...

... the trail led right up to the falls which looked quite substantial. I arranged to meet the others an hour after their bus arrived in town which gave me an hour to return for the bus. I power walked to the Falls which was actually more worthwhile to do than the 3 hour hike we did. The reason being, the falls were full of water and quite spectacular and the site also got you the closest view of the Glacier, so I was so glad I had made ...

Woke up this morning as the ship was arriving in Juneau. It rained all day long - turns out this is a temperate rain forest. 80 inches of rain per year, and 100 inches of snow. It also doesn't get terribly cold or warm - I think someone said that the average winter temp is 25 degrees, average summer is 55.

... the mile hike to the falls near the glacier is well worth the effort. You travel on mild hills on a graded path through a wonderful smelling wooded area. At the end of the path you are on a beach next to the huge waterfall fed from the glacier. Pieces of the glacier were floating in the water. While you can't right out to the glacier on the path you get close enough to feel the cold air from it and close enough to get great pictures. Some other ...
