... in and had headsets on we took off for a 30 minute absolutely spectacular flight over the Mendenhall Lake and into the path of the
glacier. My photos can not illustrate how spectacular this was.

... next stop was Juneau the capital of Alaska, which was founded by a gold rush in 1880
we hopped on a shuttle to the Mendenhall glacier which was awesome,majestic even,with a bluey,aqua tinge of colour to it,and nearby was a huge waterfall,and we saw salmon in the streams,it was amazing.
next stop was Icy Strait point.a small town where there is a lot of marine life,we saw lot and lots of salmon ,and quite a few eagles.

... the mile hike to the falls near the glacier is well worth the effort. You travel on mild hills on a graded path through a wonderful smelling wooded area. At the end of the path you are on a beach next to the huge waterfall fed from the glacier. Pieces of the glacier were floating in the water. While you can't right out to the glacier on the path you get close enough to feel the cold air from it and close enough to get great pictures. Some other ...

We had planned on a tour in the morning followed by a walk around the town in the afternoon...
But canned the town viewing after the drive through it on the way out to the Mendenhall Glacier..
