... dramatically. Amanda led us along the glacier pointing out the rocks that have made their way down from the
top of the glacier from being forced between the layers of the moving ice. There were about 4 other guides that constantly surrounded the group incase of accidents or falls or to make sure people didn't wander too close to any crevices.

After 30 minutes on the glacier the helicopters arrived with a new lot of tourists and ...

... the trail led right up to the falls which looked quite substantial. I arranged to meet the others an hour after their bus arrived in town which gave me an hour to return for the bus. I power walked to the Falls which was actually more worthwhile to do than the 3 hour hike we did. ... the mile hike to the falls near the glacier is well worth the effort. You travel on mild hills on a graded path through a wonderful smelling wooded area. At the end of the path you are on a beach next to the huge waterfall fed from the glacier. Pieces of the glacier were floating in the water. ... the water, but got the former part wrong in that she lay prostrate on the ice. That wouldn't be so bad except that the ice was covered in glacier silt, so she was filthy when she got back up. Then the guide showed us how the silt is good for the skin, by rubbing it all over is face. He asked if there was anyone else who wanted to try it and of course, Charlotte was the only volunteer.
